I am looking to buy a laptop capable of running current games and to some extent future games as i want this laptop to last at least 3 years.
I don't want to buy laptops that cost extra simply because of the brand so i came here but i am not an expert with with the technical stuff so i would much appreciate advise on what build i should have for my laptop.
The budget is only £1200 and anytimg above that is unfortunately out of the question :(

Can't really argue with Teaz' spec.

Will see you good for a few years. Got your 2 USB 3.0 ports and DirectX® 11 graphics. HDMI & DVI ports so you can e.g. connect it to your HD tv if you have one.

I went with a very similar rig (partially on the advice of Mr Teaz if I remember correctly) but added 8GB RAM, 17.3" screen, blue ray RW drive and various bits and bobs.

You can add more RAM if you ever need to but 4GB should do you nicely for pretty much any task at the moment. Chassis can accomidate up to 4x4 (16GB) - but that's just being silly.

Can speak from personal experience that the CPU and GPU are kick a**. Can run any new game I've tried on max specs without breaking sweat. (Witcher 2, Shogun 2 etc).

The only little thing I would add / say is get the Silver Warrenty for £5.

Thanks a lot that does sound like the perfect build given the budget.
Just got a few questions, how good is the chassis quality wise? Also umm what would the battery life be? And this won't be too heavy will it as i am after a laptop after all.

Chassis build quality is v. good. Don't expect the flashing lights which serve absolutely no purpose on e.g. Alienware. If you go back to the laptop configuration page, you can see a video of it.

To be honest, baterry life is not the greatest but bear in mind I've got 17.3" chassis etc. You'll prob get about 2 hrs running it flat out but that's a guesstimate. I usually have it plugged into mains so not really an issue for me personally.

Weight-wise, shouldn't really be a problem. Might want to consider a shoulder strap on a laptop bag if you're taking it out and about but mine is perfectly portable.

Might be a good idea to just give PCS a quick call and ask them re specifics.

Battery life realistically for these beastly laptops running the gtx460 or above depends but are about 1hour and a half to 3hours but i would have to say 2hours max if its running continuously especially gaming. unless you have it on a power saving plan then it could reach 3hours or abit more. so 1.3hours to 2hours. no surprise on that as it applies the same for other powerful branded laptops like sony or so. unless you want to get an extra battery pack it could last you longer.

Yep,

good point there from Flucky. As I mentioned previously in my last post, you can see a video of it on the configuration pages.

But since Flucky is not as lazy as me and provided a link, I'm going to +rep him!

Hope you get something you're happy with.

J

I sent you a PM.
