quite like this one.

mostly used for gaming by the missus and kids, streaming movies to 360, regular internet use, downloading, running various programs.

what benefit would i get with an i7 instead and how good and how long will the graphics card be good for?

If you are running more cpu intensive applications or programmes that benefit from hyperthreading then go with the i7. For gaming you may want to go with the i5-3570 (non-k) and 1333mhz memory bandwidth, you may want to consider a caviar black as the secondary drive.
how long will the graphics card be good for?
It depends on the type of games you play and what sort of fps you are expecting but the GTX 660 ti should max plenty of games at very high settings.

The i7 isn't likely to provide any benefit unless you do a lot of photo/video editing or similar high intensity CPU work.

the i5 looks like the way to go as dont do any photo/video editing.

games will be a mixed big bag but shouldnt be too demanding. some games the family likes are quite old though so settings would need to be reduced? as the boy gets into fps etc this one should last a while then?

when you say 1333mhz memory bandwidth what are you referring to?

There is no noticeable difference between 8gb memory ram 1333mhz and 1600mhz. It migh be slightly cheaper to go with the samsung 8gb memory 1333mhz.
