Anyone knows what's up with the clevo supplier?

Ordered a laptop from PC specialist a month ago (15-09). It's been in pre production ever since due to a lack of p775dm-3 gtx1070 barebones and accompanying US keyboards. Latest estimate is that they'll be back in stock the 18th, but considering that the estimated date has been slipping since the 4th I don't expect anything. Did the clevo factory burn down or something? Cargo freighter sank on the way?

I know I'll get it eventually, but I am rather curious what's going on. Seems ridiculous that a laptop frame takes more than a month to ship from Taiwan to the UK.

I believe the 1070 is in the P775DM2-G rather than the 3. I think the 3 is solely reserved for the 1080, I may be wrong though.

It really sucks waiting. I've not seen any reviews of the 1070 in the Octane yet so please post up when you get it :)

I don't think anyone on here, except for PCS staff who rarely visit, can give you any useful information about availability. I would guess that PCS are already telling you all they know. We don't know what suppliers Clevo might be waiting on, but I'm sure nobody is deliberately dragging their heels. :)

Seems to be a P775DM3 according to the BoM:

Then again, little difference between the 2. Will definitely post a review once I have it.

Yea, I don't think anyone is deliberately slow. I'm just curious what the hold up is and PC specialist is only giving me the standard "We are very sorry for the delay blablabla", no juicy intrigue about sinking boats or barebone bermuda triangles. Was hoping that someone external knows what's going on at Clevo.

Well, I ordered a P751DM2-G with GTX1070 and US keyboard on 25th Sept and the ETA has been slipping from 14th Oct to 18th Oct as well.

I've asked them to confirm my order won't be delayed right after I placed my order and they said they my order won't be affected. Then I asked some other staff in early Oct again and they told me that the GTX1070 is out of stock now. The ETA of that is on 14th Oct and my order will enter the production once the stocks arrive on that day. As I need my laptop asap and the new Alienware is available to order at that time, I was considering to cancel my order and order the new Alienware 15 instead. They made the promise that my laptop will be delivered to me a few days after 14th and as it takes a few days for me to receive the refunds, I didn't cancel my order and keep waiting.

On 14th, I didn't receive any email says that my order has enter production but another updated ETA! They sent me the email around 15th 00:00 and it's about the UPDATED ETA OF P751DM2-G WITH GTX1070 IS ON 18TH OCT NOW!!! WHAT ON EARTH!? They completely broke my plan for work.

This is not only happens on the laptop but the m.2 SSD as well. They confirmed that they have stock of the 512GB Samsung PM961 before I amend my order. On the next day after I paid for the amendment they told me they don't have stock for the SSD and they have no ETA on that! How come?

How can they tell me a completely different answer after I paid? I just feel like I've been tricked. And I'm really disappointed to them now. I'll ask them about this issue through the live chat again tomorrow. I just don't know should I trust them for still. They really put me on the spot that the new Alienware now takes 10~13 working days to dispatch and it was 3~4 working days only earlier this month. Which means that I will need to wait till Nov to receive my new laptop if I cancel my order now. Or go for the 4K version of MSI GT62VR on Amazon if I want to have it asap. I'm really afraid that they'll postpone the ETA again on 18th.

Don't forget that PCS are also customers, in this case of Clevo. I have no doubt that the 'promises' PCS made to you were based on anticipated deliveries from Clevo. If Clevo fail to me those delivery targets for whatever reason then there really isn't much PCS can do. I suspect that the dates they were giving you were based on the delivery dates that Clevo were giving them. It's very unfortunate that the person who suffers is you, the end customer.

To be brutally honest, it is a mistake for anyone to buy from PCS with a fixed or important delivery date in mind that is closer than about one month. If you need it faster than that then either buy Fast Track or buy an off-the-shelf computer from somewhere else. I don't believe that PCS can be easily beaten on price or quality, but there is a price to be paid for that, and having to wait an uncertain length of time for delivery is the price we all have to pay.

This is my first time to buy a laptop in UK and I through I was earaly enough to place my order as their website state that the standard build takes around 10~12 working days (I was not able to choose fast track as I choose to wait a few more days for the 1T WD Black)

To be honest, I didn't expect it will take more than 3 weeks to complete my order as they told me they do have stock for the GTX1070 and it's strange that the website shows the GTX1070 is out of stock at the first time I asked about my order. And the website was showing a wrong statement that the 6GB GTX1070 is out of stock (GTX1070 comes with 8GB vram). That's why trust their answer.

The problem here is they told me they have stock at that time and my order won't be delayed. I will definitely cancel my order and get something else if they told me they don't have stock and the time needed to wait is unknown.

The overall experience they give me now is seems that they don't really know what do they have in their warehouse. I never faced something like this on other preorder item from somewhere else before.

PS: I'm not aim to blame anyone. I'm just stating what they've told me here. It'd be nice if someone could give me some useful suggestion.

i've read here that the website isn't actually hooked up to the database correctly in terms of actual orders. for instance website will say at time of placing your order 5 parts in stock.

your order then enters a processing stage. this is where they confirm your order has been received and payed. takes about a day to 6 days.

you then enter pre-production which is where they gather all of your parts. until you hit preproduction you don't know what's in stock and what isn't.

PCS assign parts on a first come first serve basis. to get a better delivery estimate you need to phone them and talk on the phone.

I think that's probably correct, though only the PCS staff, who rarely visit here, could tell you for sure.

I really do think that, when you consider the total time that you will own and use your PCS computer, the time spent waiting for it to be built is infinitesimally small and it soon vanishes into insignificance when you take delivery. I hate to say it but I think that some people make too much fuss about the time between ordering and delivery. Buying a custom built computer is not at all like buying one off the shelf, you're going to have to wait for it to be built, and you may have to wait longer than you anticipated, especially if items are out of stock. If you look at the current build timescales, 100% of PCs and AIOs were dispatched within 28 days, but only 98.68% of laptops were dispatched within 28 days, so some people have been waiting almost a month and still not taken delivery. I have recently taken delivery of a PCS built PC that took 16 days from order to delivery, but I was quite prepared to have to wait a month, only after that would I have started to wonder why it was taking so long.

PCS do not need to bend the truth to get your custom, what they tell you will be the best and most accurate information they have at the time, but there are no guarantees. The time you spend waiting will be repaid in dividends in the future, not only in the performance you get from having been able to specify exactly the configuration you want, but in the lower price you paid to get that kit, and in the warranty and after sales service you get afterwards

As expected, delivery date has slipped to the 1st of November... Man this sucks.

Did you contact them? I received an email last night says that the new ETA of my chassis is on 15-11-2016 and I asked the staff via live chat this morning. They told me it's an error that sending me that email, they received the chassis already and my order is ready to be built.
