That would be pretty poor for gaming, laptops are more expensive than desktops for less power.

So a laptop 4070 equals around a desktop 4060

That GPU is very low, will struggle at 1080p whereas that laptop has a 1440p screen, and with only 6Gb VRAM, won't even be able to play most modern games where the VRAM requirement is now up to 12Gb

That system isn't designed for gaming, it's designed for photo editing where the GPU can be used for hardware acceleration to speed up effects processing, it's not beefy enough for gaming requirements.

You'd need a far higher budget for an entry level gaming system.

Ok many thanks for your advice! The build was within the laptop gaming category so I thought I may be on track.

Is there anything within my budget that would be okay for laptop gaming that you'd consider? Or just a no-go?
(Not a huge AAA gamer, but occasional if this helps - will also mainly be used for simulation games and cosy games). Many thanks

Not possible at that budget I’m afraid. Gaming laptops are all 1440p now which needs a minimum of a 4070 to be able to run, that’s now without considering any longevity.

With a laptop you want to overshoot the GPU as much as possible as that will always be the first bottleneck, so the higher you can go, the longer the laptop will last.

A 4070 is already mid way through it lifecycle so will struggle within a few years and you’d have to consider replacing it, just doesn’t make any worthwhile sense to be replacing such an expensive piece of kit every 2 years

The biggest issue, particularly on laptops, is a shortage of VRAM, as @SpyderTracks accurately points out.

The 3070ti on my Ionico is a mid-tier card that allows me to play light games at high settings, but Indiana Jones, for example, cannot go beyond low details due to the limited 8GB available.

Thank you both for your honesty and help - it's appreciated as I have difficulty processing information sometimes.

I've reviewed and can extend my budget, ideally up to 1,700 (2k max).

From your feedback would the following be a better setup? (Mainly Simulation and cosy games - the reason for a gaming laptop is health related as not always mobile).

Open to other suggestions too, many thanks.

Hi, sorry, I am not really on the forum nowadays ... ^^"
If you are not in a hurry, I'd wait for the 5000 GPU laptop ... they should be available in one or two month I guess.
Either to have a more modern laptop, or to have some price reduction ^^

next gen chassis are released next month, I would definitely hold out. The VRAM on current systems is woefully inadequate even if it was 1080p gaming.
