Hey all, I am looking into buying a 42 inch led TV for my "study room" any suggestions?? I found an alright looking Panasonic TV - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9158207.htm -but haven't had the time to view it in person, if anyone can recommend a brand or model of a good TV that they have seen / heard about I would appreciate it :)
without sounding stuck up or arrogant - price = no problem.

thanks in advance :)

I have a Panasonic smart/3d TV in my bedroom. The TV is excellent however the smart TV feature is rubbish - the app store only has a limited range of apps, eg. Netflix is on there, but Lovefilm isn't and there doesn't appear to be any way to download it, same with 4od.
My brother has a Samsung smart TV and it's really good. Nice picture, decent sound and the smart TV feature is a lot better designed.

By the way, buy one from John Lewis, 5 year warranty as standard and they will be competitively priced.

Samsung make some very nice TVs in my opinion. I have two. A 32" LCD I got 4 years ago that I now use as my PC monitor (I bought the same one for my parents as well I liked it that much) and a 46" LED that I got last year that I use as my main TV. Very impressed with both.

My girlfriend also has a 32" LED that she got last year and it's very good.

Here's a nice TV http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...-5460619-9199826?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=home-theater I actually prefer the newer line of sony tvs as not all of them have 3D gimickery which I don't like.
For value for money I would suggest this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9158771.htm at under £300 you cannot go wrong.. we actually have this tv in our dining room. I dont think the 32" is full HD I think it's 720p
As for brands, I would recommened sony and samsung and LG if you actually want 3D

My TV is Active 3D and I used it for a month or so after I bought it and I haven't touched the feature since.

We've got two Samsungs and they're brilliant. You can pick the 5 series smart models up now for a very decent price.

If you don't have a freeview HD receiving device then I would highly advise getting a TV that can receive HD freeview. That TV linked to does not have an HD decoder - ie: it can't display the freeview HD channels in HD.

While the HD is really good (makes a huge difference for football) there are only 4 HD channels so I find myself watching SD most of the time anyway.. Is it worth extra expense? I dunno.

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone!! I will check them all out :) I have sky + hd so I get around 60 hd channels I believe, so I cant wait to see the difference from 720p to full hd :)

It does depend on what you watch. It is worth it to me.
Currently BBC1, BB2, ITV and Channel 4 broadcast in HD. The bandwith will made available next year for 10 more channels to be in HD. BBC 3 and 4 are two of the channels so far declared to be two of those.
The 32 inch full HD TV I just bought was just £60 more than the otherwise same model that had no freeview HD and was only 720p definition.

To my knowledge there are no Sky or Freeview channels that air above the standard 720p anyway, for bandwidth reasons. The BBC has experimented with 1080p several times, and aired the Olympics in 3D 1080p, but never stuck with it. Still, games and Blu-rays can make excellent use of the extra resolution :)

I didn't know they were adding more HD channels, good to know :) Would love it if they have e4 HD
