Any last minute advice for this build? Budget £1200

I had a thread before but I wasn't sure if I was to merge it as this is a completely different build with a different budget and different uses. It's one I'm going to order either today or tomorrow.

I took advice from some people here before and after saving up a bit more money my budget is now £1200. I was looking to play games on max at 1440p but I'm not sure if that may be a bit too ambitious with this spec here. Even playing them on very high with a good frame rate will be good! I'm not looking to SLI or overclock. Would this spec be ok for 1440p or are there changes I could make? Is it worth it to get the 980 over the 970? The 16gb RAM was because I do plan on editing videos and multitasking too. And also I had to add in the wireless card for now while I save up for homeplugs!
Also, I don't know much about monitors so I haven't added one in so far. (The monitor is separate from the £1200 budget) Would I be looking to get one at 60hz or 144hz? What's the difference? And finally will this case be ok for keeping everything cool? Sorry for so many questions, thank you in advance! :)

I can't think of anything wrong with your spec other than you could save yourself £9 by going with standard thermal paste which would be more than ok for your processor and get the £5 warranty (it's just worth it). AS for monitors, it is a little up to preference, I myself would get a good 1080p 60hz monitor with good colours and features and max out graphics settings without dropping below 60 fps (in most cases) and that is neither the right or wrong way to go about things. You could also get a 1080p 144hz monitor and get stable frame rates above that if you lowed the graphics settings to mid-high. Or even a 1440p 60hz monitor and lower the graphics settings to ensure 60 frames per second (not what I would do, even though it's not wrong to do it).

And the difference between 144hz and 60hz is that 144hz looks way more smoother which is a lot better if you are playing counter strike or any competitive game. But if you want to play on 1440p on high settings I would recommend getting a 60hz monitor. I got this monitor about 2 weeks ago and I've had no problems and it has a good interface: BenQ RL2455HM. Its not a bad price for a benq monitor and it has lots of picture modes sRGB being the best for general PC use.
