My old laptop broke, so I wanted a new sturdy well built and future proof laptop to last me a good 5 years. Just wondering if anything is unbalanced, maybe if I should use another CPU?
And does anyone know the optimus II build quality? Looks like metal to me, and very well built.
Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated =)

I would say the only thing that I could see as unbalanced would be the disk being a bit on the slow side compared to the rest of it. (might hinder access speeds compared to a 7200 rpm drive)
As for build quality I'm not sure I was looking into buying an Optimus II myself so I would like an answer to this as well, possibly a comparison to a laptop that's in shops to see what they're like.

Hope we both get an answer =]

I ordered one last thursday and will post as soon as I get it. Definitely get the upgrade to the HD to 7200 even if it means dropping to 4GB. After reading up on the web and looking at my own requirements I chose almost identical kit. Then got home on thursday night (after ordering and a bit tipsy) and decided that I dont need a blu ray player as I have a PS3 and my home cinema. So dropped that and then opted for the 160GB SSD. My thoughts being I wanted a fast machine. The HD is by far the slowest. I already have an external drive for photos etc (also in my opinion external blu ray burners will cost about 50 quid in a year). Looking at my current PC, after about 60GB its all photos or AVIs, I don't have 100GB of applications so went for the SSD instead. Costed an extra 100 quid but comparing the speed of startup / loading apps its significant. My friend has a gaming PC with an 80GB SSD and a 1TB 2nd drive. Runs like the wind when loads from the SSD. Impressed me enough to change my mind about what makes a computer go faster. Keeps OS and common used / processor intensive stuff on SSD and uses rest as storage. I'll post the startup times when I get it and battery life. Just a thought. Do what I do, go to the pub for the evening and in the morning wake up and see what you've ordered. It'll be awesome
