After initially being unable to decide between GTX675mx and 7970m. I now dont no whether to pay the extra, I think it is about £260. Do you guys think the GTX680m is worth the extra

Here's a pretty interesting article comparing the two (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Update-Radeon-HD-7970M-vs-GeForce-GTX-680M.87744.0.html), bearing in mind the 7970m has seen some huge performance increases over the past few months thanks to bug fixes and updated drivers. I will be taking the plunge and buying a new laptop myself in the next couple of months, so unless I can see a good performance/convenience related reason to pay an extra ~£250 for the 680m, I'll be going for the 7970m myself.

The 7970M driver issues seem to have been resolved and it really does look better value at this point.

Only issues with 7970m drivers at the moment is the beta drivers and windows 8, you will lose the ability to control the brightness on Betas only, other than that is a good bang for buck card.

Not experienced this myself. Possible bug?

Not sure, ive got the Vortex 2 and it does not happen on mine. But a lot of people have reported it on here with there machines. A friend with the Vortex 3 has the same issue.

Right okay, that sounds annoying!

Regarding the OP I would have to say really, despite the (irritating) driver issues that can continue to arise, like the above; most of (not all) the performance based problems seem to have been resolved, especially in regards to the latest games.

If you put it in perspective, you could buy a very competent desktop GPU for the £260 difference, or use that to invest in better parts elsewhere for the laptop. Considering the fact that the 7970M now matches the 680M like for like in terms of performance the vast majority of the time I really don't think NVIDIA can justify the premium anymore.

I guess it depends if, to you, £260 is worth it for the best driver support and improved heat/power output.
