Advice

I've actually ordered this (but can still change it) - I wasn't going to ask for advice on it but I've seen so much good advice on here that I thought I'd post my set-up to see if anyone had any comments. My budget is 'only' about £800-1000 and used for everyday use and the occasional game (usually Elite Dangerous). I didn't order a graphics card as I've already got a GTX-660 which I'm hoping will last me for a bit, any suggestions?

I would change the SSD, the Kingston V 300 is nowhere near as good as the others, either the Kingston Hyper X or the Samsung 850 EVO is a better choice and not much more expensive.

If it's just for gaming then you don't really need 16GB RAM, 8GB will be fine for the foreseeable future - you can always upgrade later. I'd also go for the Z97-E motherboard unless there's a feature you really like on the PRO-GAMER. I also recommend Windows 8 since there only differences are the start menu, which you don't even have to use - I don't, and the much improved start up time for Windows 8.

The price may be a little more that your previous quote. But I made some changes that I personally think would benefit yourself.

• The case, that can be changed to your own personal preference, I just chose the 230T as it is a good all round case.
• I went for the one processor up, as the price increase is only minimal and you will see slightly better performance from this.
• As said previously, 8GB RAM is sufficient for everday use and gaming, so I went with that.
• I chose the 240GB HyperX Savage SSD due to the better performance.
• Also added a 1TB Caviar Black HDD, feel free to remove this from the quote. This was added purely because I know that 240GB will soon run out if saving games to the SSD.

Also, I upgraded the cooler, this isn't specifically necessary, but it is always worth keeping the CPU as cool as you can to increase longevitiy.

The rest I kept the same :)

Hope this has helped.
