Hi

I currently have a 5 year old gaming PC, its not that bad when playing high end games but could do with some Upgrades.
I'm thinking about Replacing the current CPU for a Quad Core, that has Good performance for a reasonable price witch is Supported for a AM2 socket connector.

Current PC Specs:

[Motherboard]: M2N-E SLI
[CPU]: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.4Ghz
[RAM]: 2x1Gb Kingston DDR3, 1x MEADR522P4701- PQI 2GB DDR2-667U
[Videocard]: x2 Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT [Setup]: SLI
[BIOS]: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG [Version]: ACRSYS - 42302e31
[Operrating system]: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit

Any Ideas?

According to http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/M2N-E_SLI.html, your motherboard is strictly AM2 (i.e. no AM2+) which means that the best CPU you can get into that motherboard is an AMD Athlon 64 x2. So you could upgrade to a slightly faster clock speed, but otherwise there's not a lot you can do to improve it.

To be honest I'm amazed it runs modern high end games at all.
