Advice on New desktop

Hi guys and gals,

I play a lot of quite new games, but do not focus on brand new releases.
-examples of the top spec reqs are Skyrim, Borderlands 2 and other 2011/12 releases.
-my girlfriend is OBSESSED with Lego games (its not my guilty pleasure but the pc has to run them!)
I like my graphics on high and play splitscreens with friends a lot.
I also like MO's like Torchlight 2.
I don't need a monitor as I'll be running it on my TV.
I won't need any peripherals as I already have m+k/board, sound system and headset.
Wired connection is fine as it will be next to router.

This is my current laptop which I brought 18 months ago (from here) and it runs everything well, but I work away from home a lot and take it with me.
It would be easier to have a home based PC, and would probably increase the life of my laptop.

Whoops, forget to include that!
I would like to spend no ore than £1000.
I designed a really good one, but spent just over that. Problem is it probably contains more new stuff than I actually need.
My laptop was £950 all in.

Hey thanks.
This is very similar to what I went with, but you've picked a lower spec Graphics card.
Would an SSD make so much difference? I don't play many competitive games, more for pleasure and fun.

An SSD will save a few seconds on boot times and possibly loading applications if that's important to you.

What graphics card did you choose? For around £1000 I would go with the Vanquish 230x in the review section, it also includes an SSD and the R9-280x.
