Advice on 4k Gaming PC

Hi, I was hoping I could get some feedback on this Build Please. I have been reading previous posts asking for similar PC's so I think at least some of it is correct for what I need, but there is probably something I haven't understood properly so any advice is welcome. Things I am still not 100% sure about is the motherboard, cooling and power supply. Also, what would be the best way to get Bluetooth? changing the motherboard to non WIFI then adding the option for a network card with BT, or just picking up a BT dongle?

I am also aware that there will be new gear getting released soon, but due to having no computer due to my laptop piling in I don't mind picking this up soon then if I feel the need to upgrade later on down the line I will.

It will mainly be getting used for gaming including some VR

Monitors I use are Asus Rog Strix XG43UQ 4k 144hz, Samsung Odyssey G7 32inch 1440p 240hz(?) and Gigabyte Aorus M32U 4k 60hz. Also using PSVR2. (I live and work in opposite sides of the country.)

Games I mainly play are Elite dangerous (VR), No Mans Sky (VR), X4 Foundations, Total War Series and MMO's like New World and Guild Wars 2. But would also like to be able to play newer titles as well.

My Budget is £2500 (I have gone slightly over on the build below)

Thank you in advance.

The new hardware will be unveiled at CES on January 6th; I recommend waiting a week or so before purchasing a PC because the new generation will outperform the current one (for example, 5070>4080, 5080>4090, and so on).

I was tempted to wait the week to see, but when the new stuff is unveiled it will probably be a while until it is released, then hoping to be at the front of the queue to get any of it. and then with build times and delivery it could take a while. I'm just guessing at all this but i think it would still take a long time. Not sure if anyone has had any predictions for the timelines after the 6th? Thank you for your response though.

It all relies on your interpretation of 'long time', which is subjective.
Also, with the new generation, it's possible that current GPU prices may revert to acceptable levels.

Personally, I would wait, but if you need the PC right away, here's what I would do today to try to stay within your budget (the 4070ti is sub-optimal for 4K, but a 4080 will cost around £100-110 more).

I really would strongly urge to hold on, announcement to release date is usually a couple of weeks, build time is a matter of days, for the sake of 3 weeks or so you'll gain significantly more longevity and performance at the same price point.

Now would be an insane time to buy a mid to high end GPU

Thank you both. I will try and hold out for a bit. And thanks Ekans for the adjusted build.
Remember the current cards are coming up for 2 years old, that's easily half the lifespan of a card

So you're paying double the money for less performance. Just makes zero sense.

Hi all. In preparation for tomorrow I would like to confirm the build to buy. all the same info as above but I have increased my budget to £3000. The RTX 4080 Super is there as a place holder for the 5080, unless it looks like there is going to be a long wait for the 5080 then I will end up going with the 4080.

Cooler is a fine choice. I thought you wanted LCD so I chose the modern option above. If you're happy with the non-LCD offering then that's perfect. I think a 360 rad is more important with the 50 series than LCD, but LCD sure is pretty (It can probably be upgraded to LCD anyway).

Brilliant, thank you very much Scott. I think I will go with the 360, honestly I didn't notice the LCD bit on the coolers so I am happy to go without.

Ideal, I would consider the rest of the changes though. They're not massive performance increases but they will all play their part in being the best the system can be. Quality of life is as good as it gets as well. Nothing will load faster than on that system.

Sorry, I should of mentioned that I was happy with the other changes as well. And I'm happy to go over budget a bit if the increase will improve the build. As well if I do manage to get hold of a 5080 it should bring it closer to budget.

Sexy time!!! I know 5000 series aren’t that great from the 4000 series, but coming from a GTX1080 on a 5120 x 1440 screen, I can’t wait to get my chops on one!

It's the 2025 version of my own system. I'm a tiny bit jealous as it's not mine, but I know I would be happy with those choices personally :D

It looks like it will be an awesome build and fingers crossed on the 5080. I will make sure I post pics when I get it :)

Sorry, one more question. I am thinking of adding the 4 extra fans as well, would the benefit out weigh the cost or would it not make much of a difference? also not sure if I want to lose the cable cover panel for the 3 side fans.

Jo4060hn

And also just noticed that the 1200 RMx Power Supply has changed to the 1200 HXi. Does that make any difference to the build?
