ACPI problem

Im using speedfan to monitor my cosmos temps and there is one that keeps warning me its over heating for the ACPI? it starts of fine at 14c then after a while reports its 97c but it doesn't budge higher or lower than that just them two readings, everything else is completely fine, the laptop is immense. is it a software problem with speedfan? I tried a few other apps but this seemed to be the only reliable one. The laptop does not feel hot at all and the other readings are fine.

Probably a problem with speedfan if the temp is just jumping straight from 14 (way too low for anything inside a computer anyway) to 92. That just doesn't happen.

If its performing fine, ie no stuttering or getting really hot to the touch then id say its fine.

the only part that gets a little hot is were the hard drive is and according to speedfan that is when its at about 50c which it doesn't seem to go above, the cores idle at around 22-24 and so far haven't gone over 40 so im not too concerned, all that bothered me was that from cold it did register as being cool and im sure it said acpi 14c then 20 mins in goes to 97c and stays there. What is the acpi.

A quick google reveals loads of people worried about the same issue as you.

I cant find any conclusive opinions one way or the other, however it seems to be a problem with speedfan rather than an overheating problem as in a couple of threads people trying speedfan for the first time has the issues. it would be incredibly unlikely for them to have the same issue with no symptoms.

As far as what the sensor is it looks like its a motherboard sensor that speedfan is just picking up wrongly. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start getting other issues.

Speedfan also has my GPU down as running at 0 deg c, which is testimony to the cooling attributes of the Vortex chassis  (i take speedfan readings with a large pinch of salt, especially as it doesn't recognise the motherboard or see either of the onboard fans !)
