QUESTIONS - IS THE 500GB BARRACUDA OK? AND SHOULD I GO KINGSTON 8GB FOR A MERE £3 MORE?

ANY OTHER COMMENTS WELCOME

imo, dont bother with the expensive 750w PSU just stick to the normal one

and the barracuda is fine, although seeing as it is a second drive, you could get a caviar green instead, although your game loading times may be slower

i think the £3 upgrade is worth it, mainly for the heatsinks attached, helping to cool your case all round, some may disagree though, you wont notice any difference really although they do look better with the heatsinks :)

and have you considered the kingston SSD? although not quite as reliable (should still be fine) you'll experience better speeds at about £20 more

Not really sure about swapping to the kingston as I hear the 320 is more reliable and has 5 year warranty as opposed to 3 with kingston. rather sacrifice speed for reliability.

I am also not sure about swapping the hx for the tx. you sure its not worth it?

tbh, corsair PSUs are probably the best in the world so whichever you get is gonna perform great and last a long time, its still got a bronze rating, which is much higher than a majority of PSUs sold (most of the sold by the likes of Dell and HP have no rating)

the 750hx is ace lol, I got one, they are so much more tidy than non-modular psu's.

I'd get a 850psu thou, plenty for an extra 570.

Cheers. Think I will go hx since there is an additional 2 year warranty for 30 quid more basically.

I'm not too fussed about sli just yet. Sticking with a single gpu.

KINGSTON HYPER 120GB SSD VS INTEL 320 120GB? - more warranty with the intel but faster with the kingston lol argh

if in were you, i'd source a 850hx see here Or ask pcs to source one for you. Its just so you can add a extra 570 in a year or so for a nice gaming performance boost.

Or get the standard 850w psu.

SSD ooohh thats a tough one, they fast but expensive.

looks good dude,

still think you should go for the 850TX, for that extra performance. cost will be less than the hx750. If your worried about cables, the cm690 II has very good cable management, I wouldn't worry.

SLI caused as lot of issues with the old Geforce 8 and 9 series GPUs. Most of them were solved, but the 200 series stil suffered from microstutter.

Ever since the 400 series however the microstutter problem has been improved, but will always remain an issue depending on the game and level of driver compatability with SLI. Overall most SLI users do not experience a level of microstutter that would be deemed problematic, and whetoerh or not SLI performs well with any given games is purely down to luck / proper driver and application supper, however with all of the POTENTIAL issues in mind, i would personally avoid using multiple GPU's wherever possible rather than having to play with SLI profiles and possibly suffer from poor performance / disabling SLI for a game or two.

I run a Geforce 580 GTX in my current desktop, and have no need to SLI as of yet (almost all games run at 60+ with vsync or FPS capped by software). When the tgime comes i would prefer to replace the GPU rather than slap in another 580.

Long story short multiple GPU technology has come a long way since the Voodoo 2, but i'd rather avoid any possible issues completely by sticking with single GPU's, as there is no real need for running anything higher than a 580 GTX unless you run multiple monitors etc etc.

Thanks mate, your argument has confirmed my worries about multiple gpu's. When the time comes, I will replace the gpu later down the line just like yourself.
