If you could let us know what you'll be using the PC for it would help us give useful advice/comments :)
Also if you could include your budget in case people want to suggest some changes.

Apologies, just wanted to get confirmation there was no obvious mistakes with the setup but you're right, more info would be helpful!

I use it for both work and gaming. For work I'm running multiple virtual machines (should be no more than 3) which is why I went for 32gb of RAM as I was told that was pretty important. Gaming wise this should be more than enough, I only do gaming as a casual hobby so 980gtx should be more than enough.

No budget really within reason, but also no point in getting way more than I need just for the sake of it.

I would just like to know that the cooling and PSU are fine for this setup as well.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would drop to the non-k variety of cpu as you won't be overclocking. If you are overclocking, then you'll need to get a watercooler.

I'd also personally drop to a 250gb SSD and add a second HDD of 1tb or something to reduce cost.

You could drop the motherboard to the basic one which won't affect performance at all.

I'd up the PSU to the 650W CS series as it's a better model and modular which improves airflow.

Do you need the external soundcard? On board sound is very good these days, there are only a few applications that require an external.

Otherwise, looks ok.

Thanks for your feedback,

I wasn't aware that onboard sound was OK, in that case I agree I don't need the soundcard.

I definitely want to stick with the larger SSD, having used an SSD for the first time recently I would never consider a standard one again, even for backup storage.

As for the processor, is there not much difference in non-overclocked performance between the two models then?

They have come on a long way in the last 5 years, especially on the Asus boards they're excellent these days.

Fair enough, if I could afford it, I'd do the same :)

Actually for your usage, you would benefit from the increase in clock speed, stick with the K version.

Hi,

As Spyder suggests I would go for a higher output PSU.

As for sound I am in the external DAC camp (rather than a higher end soundcard). I have a pair of professional monitor speakers that are attached to a mid range USB external DAC and I get Hi-Fi quality sound but then I'm not really a gamer. Maybe stick with on-board for now as you can always add a card or external DAC later on.
