Really need HELP!! have ordered a Creative x-fi titanium sound card in my build spec, but not sure if i need it? I need to be able to output a Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 signal over Optical connection to my Yamaha home cinema amp, for games, blu-ray and dvd movies, as well as a massive music collection. I have searched and googled myself into a spin, but it's still unclear if the mobo's on-board sound chip can transcode and output a dolby digital/dts 5.1 digital signal to a home theatre amp via the onboard optical s/pdif? I am more than happy to have a lower spec cpu/graphics card if i do infact need the x-fi titanium (my choice out of the available creative cards). I just don't want to fork out for it and loose out on the better cpu etc if the on-board s/pdif can output the required dolby digital/dts 5.1 signal. I don't have the speakers that plug into the rca sockets. It needs to be an OPTICAL connection to my surround amp. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

looks like no-one else knows the answer either! i even went on to the asus website and found the page for the mobo, but did it help? did it hell. there's currently 3 different forums trying to find the answer. trust me to be the awkward bugger to ask the difficult questions. sorry everyone. I'll just buy the sound card and be done with it. at least i'm covered then ;-)
