What sort of score would this achieve on 3Dsmark11, I have seen ones on the hall of fame on their site with a similar setup reaching around 33k score overall.

I need a build I can score very high on 3DMark11 like these for example http://www.3dmark.com/hall-of-fame/

I am trying to build a PC that can get close to those and still be good for gaming.

A build to get high scores on 3Dmark11? i7-3960x overclocked + 2x GTX 690. SLI gtx 680 should perform better gaming wise and in 3dmark11 compare to a single gtx 690. Some of the scores available online may be influenced by overclocked gpus.

I'm sorry, but you want to spend that kinda of money, just to get a high score on 3d mark?

1 - Get a better case lol, :)

Hi,

The GTX680 generally has higher clock speeds than the 690, so 2x680s should be a bit quicker than a 690.

I don't know if the supplies of 690s have now improved but not so long ago they weren't always readily available. I think 680s make better financial sense at the moment.

You're spending a fair bit on a 480GB SSD. Do you need one this big? Dropping back a bit here gives you money to spend elsewhere.

You need a team of specialist with nitrogen cooling and a pc that will just about last long enough to run through the test to get close to those scores.

Why would you want a f1 car to do a job that a Ferrari will do very nicely ?.

You're right, sorry I was sorting of using 3DMark11 as a reference, anyway what would be better, I will be gaming on 2 24 inch monitors but most using one for the actual game and the other for browsing.

So for that would SLi 680's be better or a single 690?

If you want a good gaming rig that's real value for money you only need an i5 with a single 670 and it will max out any game on a single 24" monitor while you use the other one for browsing.

If your worried about future proofing then another 670 Sli will be almost as fast as a 690 for a lot less money.

You won't notice any difference between to two set ups except in your wallet .
