8GB AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT vs 6GB Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060

Hi guys, pretty much decided on what I'm going to order for my PC (first real one!!!) except for what graphics card to get. Conflicted between the two in the title. Admittedly a large part of this is cause it looks like nearly all the ones more advanced are sold out and no one had any idea when they'll be in stock. The plan is to order a 1440p monitor as well, so with that information which card do you think would serve me better? 8GB is better than 6GB obviously, but I've also heard that DLSS is basically a requirement for Cyberpunk, so I'm uncertain.

Of course, I do have a spare 1080p monitor lying at home I could pick up, if ye think that would serve me better given the two options available. Just looking to get some more insight into this, been agonizing over it a while. Thanks!

This is my first time getting a real PC, so if there's something I'm missing or have done wrong in the overall build I would appreciate the advice with that as well!

I wouldn't recommend either card, they're last generation and vastly outperformed by current generation at the same cost.

If it were me, I would get the 3060ti which is FAAAAAR better than either at 1440p.

I suppose that makes sense yeah. My main concern was it looks like no one knows when the 3060s would actually be in stock, so I could be waiting months and months for it to arrive, and I guess patience isn't my strong suit.

Still, might be best to just bite the bullet and wait the extra period.

Perfect, thanks a load! Looking around the forum it looks like I may be waiting a long while for the 3060 to be in stock, but probably better that wait then pay for obsolete tech I guess.

I reckon I can stretch my budget out to around 250-270 for a monitor.

Perfect. I don't think there is any other accessories I need? Plan to use it pretty much just for gaming. I've got a pretty standard keyboard and mouse here that I can use at the start anyway, can upgrade them later if I feel the need to. Pretty much the only other thing I need is a monitor. Was looking to upgrade to 1440p, but if needs must I think I can be happy with 1080p for the foreseeable future, and just upgrade whenever is convenient.

I presume the build should be pretty sorted for that? As you may be able to tell I'm pretty much an amateur at this. Now the main thing is to hope Nvidia ship out enough graphic cards in the new year ;-;.

The build is perfect for 1440p 144Hz, with the adjusted price, what's your budget for a monitor as the new spec is quite substantially cheaper than previous. Don't scrimp on the monitor, for a half decent 1440p 144Hz, you're looking around £350. The one I would normally recommend is around £420

A bit more expensive than I expected, but probably doable. I think I should be able to afford around 400-450 for a monitor. It would put me a bit over-budget but not massively so.

This is the one I think is worth far more than it costs, it has full HDR10 support which is a really high end feature usually only found on panels costing significantly more:

Or a bit lower cost, with obvious panel sacrifices but still excellent monitors:

Or the same in 32":

Oof, that first one looks really, really tempting. It's probably better for my wallet if I went for the Odyssey or the Gigabyte G27QC though. Kinda leaning towards the Odyssey just cause the name sounds cooler! Still, I might go for that HDR10 monitor anyway; it looks pretty class.

You've been a massive help! Not sure what mishmash PC I would have ended up with if not for your help. Thanks a load.

Your build was very close to spot on actually, didn't need much changing, very good first effort! (y)

Further response:

I'm amazed to see the Samsung G5 includes full HDR10!!! I'm bowled over. It's quite typical of Samsung to pack in a lot for the money as they're one of the few who makes their own panels, but even so, cramming it in at such a reasonable budget is nothing short of incredible! I would choose the Samsung over the Asus knowing that. The only difference is that the Samsung is a VA panel whereas the Asus is a higher end IPS.
