8700k or 8700?

I’m definitely on a budget here and I don’t really plan on overclocking. What are the benefits of the i7 8700k in comparison to the 8700 that means I need it with a GTX 1060 3gb and a Z370 motherboard? I can go without if it isn’t worth it and I can save money from buying the 8700. Thanks!

All the k means is that the cores are "unlocked" to allow for overclocking. If you NEVER plan on o/cing, then there is no reason not to go for the 8700 - save the money

That's not the only difference. The -k CPUs are almost always clocked higher at stock. 7700k was about 8pc faster iirc

But I think the 8700 is only 100MHz slower on boost vs -k.

So if on a budget -k doesn' t necessarily seem worth it
