Which is likely to be generally faster? General stats below:

Scorpio Black: 6Gb/s Interface, 7200 RPM, 16MB Cache

Seagate SSHD: 6Gb/s Interface, 5400 RPM, 64MB Cache,

Seagate, it's a solid state hybrid drive. Quite a bit faster, it has 8GB nand on it. Generally if you cannot afford a HDD and SSD together, a SSHD is a good compromise.

Personally, I'd disagree.

The sshd, although has solid state cache only runs at 5400 rpm which means access for anything other than small system files is markedly slow. In world use I don't think there would be much noticeable difference between them and given the price increase on the sshd, I'd say stick with the scorpio

My experience suggests otherwise, as does reviews.

I would agree with Random_Matt that the Seagate SSHD would be faster.

Ah, I hate being wrong... I should never comment based on my assumptions rather than experience. I accept defeat.

I agree that the Scorpio black is faster. It really depends on what it's loading. Large files and programs will take longer to load, but small programs that are often used will be quicker. I prefer a fast HDD to a SSHD, but that's just me :)
