GTX580 (and I've got an SSD). I like the fact the SSD speeds up bootup and loading times but it wont contribute much to hardcore gaming whereas the upgrade to the GPU will.
I would go for the gtx580. As you can always get an ssd later on. Maybe get hx750 instead of the tx750, as the hx750 is modular.
But if you are planing to sli in the future then go for tx850
Haha your new computer has almost identical specs to mine, even the case! gotta love the phantom!
I'd go for the 580 (I'm building mine for gaming too and am going for the 580) as it will make a bigger difference in how many FPS you will get. I'm going for the 60G SSD as well though because I really want to use that as my boot drive/cache and have a quicker system. Also the motherboard has SRT and i'd like to take advantage of that
question of my own: the 'SSD CACHE DRIVE' option under where you choose your memory, is that just an option to choose a small 20G SSD to store your OS etc on that will go in a memory slot like normal, or is it a different thing altogether?
also id get a bigger power supply, you'll need around 800 to run that setup and if you're gonna run SLI in the future (as am i) you'll need even more, maybe 1000 for 2 x 580.
epic! Yess! the Phantom is great.. my friend has it in white and blue! and it looks lush.. and nice! i will probs add an ssd later on.. but will definitely try to get the 580! and yes.. i will have to think about getting a bigger psu! :S
What's your budget? The 60GB SSD is only about £40 more than a 750GB caviar black, and as long as you have a secondary HDD with a lot of space for main storage the SSD will make a huge difference, opening applications etc in the blink of an eye!
I really would upgrade the PSU, I've gone for the 1000W which is only about £80 more than your 750, however if budget is really tight an 850W could run the single nvidia 580 no problems. Also you could downgrade the CPU to an i5-2500(k) which wouldn't make that much difference for gaming, the 2500 is still a fantastic gaming processor, and you could use the hundred quid saved to upgrade the PSU to a much better one.
when i select the 2x580's and 850w it says i need a bigger PSU.. so will probs get the 1000w and i don't really know what my budget is going to be tbh! :S could be anything between £1000-£1450.. ish :L i'm getting my comp in a couple months! which is why i don't know how much i'll have.. i'm just gonna try and save as much as possible really!
If he went SLI he would need more. I just put his specs through and if he got another 580 he would need 880W with a 20% allowance. I'd go for the 1000W.
edit: fail, just saw my other post did go through anyway. I hate my internet!
Also don't make anything certain till the day you have the money and buy the thing, prices change, new components come out
