Hi Guys

Hope you all doing well and thanks in advance for your help.

I'm looking at getting a 5080 but unsure if this will bottle neck my CPU. I'm gaming on an odyssey g9 at 1440p.

Would you recommend upgrading the CPU as well?

If you need to know anything else then let me know.

Cheers

Is it purely a gaming build you‘re after, or a combo of gaming/rendering/etc.

There’s not much you can do to upgrade the CPU further, except for more cores…you can’t upgrade it to a 7xxx or 9xxx CPU as they’re on a newer platform.

The 5080 won’t be bottlenecked by the 5900X unless you’re playing twitch shooters at 1080p at 240hz+

Sorry if I should have included this in the post. Its just pure gaming mate.

Yeah I was looking at the upgrade options for the CPU and there isn't any lol. I assume I would need a new motherboard for that, which I'll change when I get a new PC in the future.

I'll be gaming at 1440p on the original samsung odyssey g9.

Thanks

If the 5800X3D was still available, then that would offer a decent boost to gaming…but it’s out of production and any for sale are expensive…the only other option with similar gaming uplift would be the equally expensive 5950X3D.

There is also a 5700X3D, but I don’t known how much of a difference it would make at 1440p.

Yeah i think this maybe my last upgrade until I buy a new PC now. Thanks for your help.

Might it create a bottleneck? Yes, in some circumstances, and the lower the resolution and settings the more likely. But that's realistically unlikely and you can always get rid of the bottleneck by turning the settings up.

Ah thanks both of you!

I have been looking around for a 5800x3d but they're £350 second hand, which is expensive for a second hand used chip.

Yeah I'm hoping the 5080 will push my monitor further. I'm not aiming for high FPS, just beautiful graphics and story telling gaming.

Thanks again everyone. You're always very helpful.
