3k or 4k option for The 17.3" Defiance coming?

Just checking, I would have thought the larger 17" models would be a better fit for the higher resolution screens

Simple - there are no panels in existence.

Those are all the 4K and 3K laptop panels less than 18" in size. As you can see, there are some for 15" laptops (used by Clevo and others) but none whatsoever for 17" laptops.

Even if / when one does get made, it'll still take a while for a manufacturer to implement it in a laptop, so there'll be a couple of months' delay at least.

An update several months later - 17" 4K panels are now on the radar:

Unlike the rubbishy 48Hz Pentile 15" Samsung screens, this is a proper RGB 4K 17" screen.

Expect it to take several more months before laptops pop up for sale with that screen in them...
