One day after I received my Vortex II laptop with 6970 and the prices drops big time, and now there's a 6990...

No wonder PC Specialist built, tested including quality control, and dispatched my laptop so quickly. Normally in 1-2 weeks speeded up to built and tested completely in one day's time so I can't cancel my order and benefit from the price discount. :(

You could just return it using your 30 return (i think that long) and then upgrade the components. Or you could ask for money back and RMA it for an upgrade

How long will it take it I sent it back for to upgrade to the 6990 graphics card? I still have the packaging. Think posting it will probably cost the same as the amount I could have saved up if I waited. :|

EDIT: Just read even if I upgrade to the 6990 I'd have to sell my 6970 myself. What a hassle.

Return your computer? If you wanna return you can back up your HDDs. If you upgrade you can just ebay it or craigslist. you will get a nice price

Just got my RMA code. Having it collected tomorrow, and after I get my refund I'll be ordering the laptop again with the 6990M instead. That's £36 down the drain (collection charge) because I didn't wait an extra week before placing my order or you can say because PC Specialist built, tested, and dispatched my laptop in one day's time instead of a week to two weeks. The 6990M shouldn't even be called 6990M, it's double times better than 6970M.

They did not do it quickly just so you couldnt get it cheaper, it just so happened that yours got made quickly, and given that people tend to complain if it even takes one day longer than estimated, generally people are happy when its done quickly

Also its generally the whole process that takes 1-2 weeks including sitting in a long queue, desktops usually seem to take 1-2 days to go through building, testing, qc and into dispatch, laptops possibly take less time

I also received a laptop with the 6970m not long ago and I am gutted that the 6990m is out so soon at such a similar price, an upgrade seems quite hard to do so it looks like I will be keeping my 6970m :(.

Just had it sent off. I spent over an hour making sure it was properly packaged in its original packaging. The plastic cover for the lcd screen had some dust and I doubt PCSpecialist still wants it but packed it up anyway. Only issue is I already wrote my order number on the welcome booklet. Since when I order the new laptop I'll get a welcome booklet might as well just get the one I sent off back lol. Or PCSpecialist can use just a pen eraser and send me a new welcome booklet for the sake of it. Hope I'd get my refund by Friday so I can place my new order quickly.
