24-30" Monitor Screen with USB Connections on the Side

I was wondering whether you could purchase a 24-30 inch computer monitor with USB connections on the side of that monitor and could that monitor be fixed flat on the wall?

If anybody knows whether this is possible, can I ask these questions:

1. Does PC specialist sell these types of monitor and if so can you tell me where to
look on their website?

2. If they do not sell this type of monitor, can anybody give me a link where I can find
these types of monitors? I reside in the UK.

Thanks.

For mounting monitors on a wall, you need to look for VESA mount, it's a standard mount size which fits most mounts.

USB connectivity is certainly available among many monitors. PCS do stock some and it's mentioned in their description if they have usb ports.

Thanks for your answer.

I think I need to be more specific.

I am disabled so I use speech recognition to dictate to the screen.

I also use a device called a "SmartNav" to control the mouse.

This works by having the SmartNav positioned on top of the monitor and I will have a reflective dot on my forehead. The SmartNav needs to be plugged into a USB connection from a desktop or laptop computer. I can then move the mouse by moving my head from side to side thus not needing hands to move the mouse.

Therefore, I would need the monitor to somehow be connected to a PC on the side of it perhaps. In other words the SmartNav needs to be connected to a PC to transfer data.

I wondered if there was such a model that would cater for this so there would be no need to put a computer tower on the floor.

Thanks

You may want to check out the All In One PCs - though they don't have many options in the way of screen size, there are a few less than 22", a couple at 23.6" and one at 32" - I realise those aren't actually within the 24"-30" size spec, but a few are close in size :)
They are basically a PC and monitor combined where all the PC components are in the back of the monitor casing.
This is where you can look at them: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/aio-computers/

Ok, thanks for the further info... the way I see it you have 2 options:

1/. Use a standard PC base located anywhere attached to a monitor that has USB connectors on it. Mount the monitor onto the wall with a VESA mount, then plug the SmartNav into the USB connector on the monitor (which in turn is connected to the PC's USB ports). To do this, you'd have 3 cables going to the monitor, one for USB connectivity to the PC, one video signal (HDMI/DP), one power. You can get any cable with plenty of length on it if you're worried about the PC tower having to be close to the monitor, it can be on the other side of the room if you wanted.

2/. You could buy an AIO (all in one) PC which PCS do stock. These can be found http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/aio-computers/
On first look, the Maestro certainly has VESA mounting points on the rear of the chassis, the others you may want to call PCS up and have a chat to confirm.

Thanks guys, very helpful information.

I shall look at the AIO's but as you say, a bit limited on monitor sizes. I've also found this as another option for putting a desktop tower on the wall right next to the monitor being fixed by a Vesa mount. Just out of interest, what is the narrowest tower 'depth wise' that PCS does?

Thanks

The do their Mini pc's and as an example, the medium of the range comes in at 76mm x 220mm x 225mm, so pretty small and with decent specs. They do a smaller mini PC as their entry level one, but these are 2gb RAM affairs that are for really basic usage.

Well depending what you need the PC to do you may be able to consider the mini PCs: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/intel-mini-pcs/.

The Silent Mini PCs and Performance Mini PCs cases are 76mm x 220mm x 225mm in size, and the Intel NUCs are even smaller around 115mm x 111mm x (32 to 56)mm.

Note: I have no idea about the processor/graphics power of said mini PCs.

Edit: I took far too long writing this post lol, I'm sure Spyders response wasn't there when I started :)
