I’ve been delving into a lot of albums that encapsulated that decade for me recently. I’ve just listened to Gossip’s ‘Standing in the way of Control’ and that LP still stands up. Be interested to hear anyone else’s picks from 2000-2009, maybe some top fives? 😀

Love that album! As you say, still holds up, IMHO they never got the attention they deserved!

Oh my.... don't get me started! This could go on for awhile!

One of my favorites was Lemon Jelly - KY which never gets old.

Amy Winehouse - Back To Black

Norah Jones - Come Away With Me (absolutely love this album)

The Streets - Original Pirate Material

Eminem - The Eminem Show
Eminem - Marshal Mathers LP

Sigur Ros - ()
Sigur Ros - Aegitus Birjun

Coldplay - Parachutes (I know, love hate but one of my favorites)

Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds (If you tell anyone I rate this I'll deny it)

Some very diverse choices there! I genuinely wouldn’t have guessed Norah Jones as one of yours. No objections to any of the others, everyone loves a bit of JT. And Sigur Rós are great. Like most people, I discovered them by hearing Hoppípolla when I watched the first series of Planet Earth, I then devoured their back catalogue over the next few months.

My top five, in no particular order...

The killers - hot fuss (Open up my eager eyes Cause I'm Mr. Brightside)

Red hot chili peppers - stadium Arcadium

Linkin Park- hybrid theory

Limp Bizkit - Chocolate starfish

Sum 41 - all killer no filler

Kanye West - The College dropout

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever people say thats what im not

Gorillaz - Demon Days

Jay Z - the Black album

Some great choices there! You included a couple I had to leave out, Arctic Monkeys first album remains an absolute classic. If I’d had a top six it’d be a close call between that and White Blood Cells by The White Stripes.

And an honourable mention to The Streets. @SpyderTracks correctly picked Original Pirate Material as the more important album but I listened to A Grand Don’t Come For Free this afternoon and that LP tells a story in almost operatic fashion.
