15.6" SkyFire III vs 15.6" Vortex IV

Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my Optimus IV which has been a great machine so far...

And I've narrowed it down to two Skyfire III and Vortex IV both with GTX 970m.

Now specwise they will be very similiar but is there anything to set them out from each other?

Are both screens IPS?

Does the Skyfire III have the same sound system of the MSI GT60 (chassis seem the same)?

Is cooling and noise emission better on the Vortex?

The alternative I've been looking at is the MSI GT60 but only has GTX 870m but better price point with IPS screen, SSD and quality sound (according to reviews)

Any feedback and comments will be appreciated

vortex 2 fans, skyfire 1 fan, i think they use the same screen
sound system is in the description tab next to the configurator
dont go with the MSI GT60, not worth it, i have been having the same dilemma and lets face it, PCS is way cheaper, for the price of a GT60 with a gtx 870m you can get a Vortex/skyfire with the gtx 970m, which is a huge difference

Thanks for the reply mrducking

It is indeed better value than the MSI GT60 but I'm curious because the MSI has an IPS screen and quality speakers according to reviews...

The chassis on the Skyfire is very similar to the GT60 if not the same...

Is there any users of both systems?

I do like the look of the Skyfire III compared to the others which seem a bit plainer except the backlit keyboard!

All similar price and was leaning towards the Skyfire III only one fan might be a drawback but reviews state it would be fine but a little noisier...

So many choices!!

they both have really good cooling designs, but the skyfire is bigger (bulkier), that would be a plus for the vortex to me

The size doesn't worry me too much as long as it runs relatively cool and not going crash when I'm gaming because it's too hot. Read reviews of the Vortex IV SE which could be a fingerprint magnet...
It's a tie between the Skyfire and the SE for me :-S

because they are almost the same, almost
the vortex uses a mxm module for the gpu while the skyfire has a soldered gpu
