I have been looking at the specification of the 13.3 inch Mirage mobile laptop.

Just wondering what the battery life is? it says it has a 4 cell battery.

Has any one tried this model yet, any experiences, I notice the weight is 1.9kg would an SSD make it any lighter?

1.45kg and an 8 hour battery life would be my dream machine.

I notice a few manufacturers doing 1.45kg with in-built DVD e.g. Toshiba R630 though they are very expensive.

I don't think anybody on our forums has ordered the Mirage yet so reviews will be few & far between.

The difference in weight between a 2.5" HDD & and SSD is minimal - it will make very little difference to the overall weight of the laptop.

Battery life all depends on what how you use the laptop. For example if you have one browser open then it will last longer than it would if you have 2 or 3 browsers, Windows Media Player and some pictures. That said, I'd dare say that the Mirage does have the best battery life out of all our laptops, but without using one it's hard for me to put a number on how many hours it will be.

The 13.3 inch market is a bit of a sweet spot between a netbook and a full blown laptop with a focus on mobility and reasonable performance.

Obviously, the more powerful the processor (and the more it is used) the less effective the battery will be, though I would expect a vendor to publish estimates as a potential customer would want to know.

An only 4-cell battery battery choice would certainly put me off purchasing.

I notice PCSpecialist also do a netbook the 10.1" Axino II , but who would want an Atom 455 processor and why is this the only choice?

Perhaps both e.g. the 10.1 and 13.3 inch segments provide some opportunity for innovation?

Perhaps not enough margin on these things to make a reasonable profit or perhaps just a need to work harder at differentiation?

Thanks for the feedback on the weight/power difference between a HDD/SSD.
