I recently ordered a laptop with the 120GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, I've since read some bad and some good reviews on it and am unsure about it now. Is it a decent SSD? It's obviously the cheaper version so I'm not expecting it to be the best but is it very bad or is it still pretty good? Very confused about this now.

They were when it was originally released but they changed the flash memory after a few months which means newer models are much slower than the advertised speed. I'd advise getting a samsung or hyper X SSD instead

As George says, they have performance issues and only reach around half stated speeds. Worth swapping out if you've ordered it but not received the laptop yet.

what about the M2 models? not the V300 models? are they the same? because I changed my order from not having an SSD to the M2 2280 (120GB) SSD. If that's also slow, I think I may change it...

M2 ones are good as far as I know, no issues reported.
