I will mainly be using this for gaming however also University work. I have Office and a Security software already. Games such as GTA V, ArmA III, PUBG etc. Is this a decent build or any improvements, PREFERABLY under 2,000 however just over will be fine.

Thanks!

The i7 7800x is more or less obsolete, especially for gaming, thanks to the newer and faster (and somewhat cheaper overall) i7 8700k.

I'd get a better SSD as well, in view of the small price difference.

There's not much point to the 650W VS series PSU. You may as well get a better quality and modular one like the 650 TXm.

You could also get a better case and CPU cooler, and get a pre-overclocked system.

Why the GTX 1080 ti? What monitor are you pairing this with? If it's 1080p 60hz, anything over a GTX 1070 is pretty overkill, - with the 1080 ti being a flat waste of cash, since by the time you need the extra performance above something like a 1070, there will be better GPUs available for less £.

Hello,

So I chose the 1080ti to get the best possible possible graphics. I use a 32 inch TV as my monitor and so I thought the 1080ti would be best. Do you suggest I go for 1070ti instead then? I also reconfigured your spec to add a case which allows disc drive as this is a necessity for me.

The CM 690 III is a decent case.

The size of the screen has nothing to do with what graphics card you need - rather, it's the resolution of the screen :) A GTX 1060, for example, will give you the same framerate in games regardless of whether the screen you're using is a 22" 1080p monitor or a 50" 1080p TV. It's the 1080p (aka 1920 x 1080) bit that matters.

A 1070 will more or less max out most modern games at 1080p resolution.

What resolution is your TV? If you don't know, what model of TV do you have? The model number will probably be on the back. I ask, because some 32" TVs seem to be lower than 1080p resolution.

If the resolution is below 1080p I'd suggest either getting a 1080p monitor (since 1080p is still more or less the 'standard' gaming resolution), or sticking to a much cheaper GPU like a GTX 1060. Since a resolution like 1366 x 768 is far, far less demanding on the GPU than 1920 x 1080.

I'm still planning on a GTX1080 Ti due to wanting to max out the VR as much as I can. As above, there's no reason to spend the extra on the Ti for 1080p, the 1070 would be plenty. Ironically, I feel that the GTX1080 is more the awkward cousin now :D

It's a 1080p monitor. So due to this you recommend I get the 1070?
