What are your current PC specs?

What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?

I7
16gb ram
GTX 770
Anything else I need to put?

240hz for sure and I think 4k but I could be wrong.

Sorry I am not the best with these things.
having read through it seems to be that I should wait and get the new AMD ?

that's what it was called.
Cool, so that's 1440p 240hz, so the 3080 would pair well with that.

An AMD processor would be far far better than an i9 in all areas but quite literally bundles more performance for streaming and editing especially.

I would personally wait for AMD's announcement of their new processors on 8th October if you can wait til then. Stocks of the 3080 are going to be in short supply for a while anyway so you would likely be waiting past that time anyway if you were to order now.

But as an example build:

Given your budget I would also consider upping the GPU to the 3090 when it's in stock at the end of this month.
Thank you for the reply, that's brilliant, I will wait until the 8th october then in that case, I am not in a rush, I have a PC now to play on and can wait a couple of weeks. I will also get the 3090 as it willl be available and still fits in my budget dependant on the AMD costs. do yu mind if I reply to this when the new announcments are released?
So I can get your opinion. you seem well informed and very knowlegeable in this subject.

Of course, post back when the AMD CPU’s have been announced, the 3090 will be available then also.

How much video editing are we talking about? What would take preference for you, would it be gaming or would it be editing?

I'm surmising that the editing will relate to the recording of the gaming you have been doing and likely uploading to YouTube and the likes? If that is the case then I would probably go down the 3900XT route over the 3950X. The 3950X is a processing monster, absolutely no doubt, but I think the 3900XT would eek it out in gaming as it won't drop quite as low on all-core usage. There's likely to be very little in it, don't get me wrong, but there is a big difference in value between the 2 when gaming is considered. If the editing is a high priority then the 3950X is a no brainer at this budget.

So video editing, would be fairly minimal to be honest, it's not even for my YouTube videos, it's just my friends videos of free running he asks me to edit them every now and then, I don't YouTube, I just stream for friends.

The one Spyder built wasn't even near £4000 to be fair so I can hold out at the minute and see what you both think after October 8th, decide from there, I'm not in a rush, I just think it's time for an upgrade and I've been saving for a while now to get to this point.

With £4k to spend I would be aiming for a new monitor too. A Super Ultrawide would be on my shopping list (Probably a G9).
£4000 is for computer, I have other money to spend. I am not changing my monitors just yet as I am also buying a new motorbike and a driving simulator set up!

You won't need £4000 for the computer, won't add any benefit. These cards a much cheaper than their predecessors.

It's just a budget, I don't have to spend all of it but I think I'm going to get the 3090 and wait and see what the new AMD processors are

Hiya! Me again, so the new AMD processors look really good, I have decided the 3090 is the one I want to get, would you recommend the new AMD processor?
