Hey guys i would appreciate some help speccing up a new gaming PC however with a few specific tweaks i need,
- Long lasting, an i7 4 series would be excellent!
- Quiet fans, my sister is forever banging on my wall late at night when im on my computer because of the fans are so loud on my current PC! Admittedly the walls are very thin.
- I sometimes edit some videos, but that is sometimes, however 16GB Ram would be ideal
- I am not connected to the router in my house as it is downstairs, i use wireless instead which i understand effect the true speeds but nothing i am too concerned of yet!

The budget can be pushed +100 or so, within reason.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Built to be future-proof & quiet, opinion?

If it is related to your previous thread there is no need to open a new one, you can update the previous one.
A quiet case is going to make minimal impact on noise, with a gaming air cooled gpu it is not going to be silent at high load. For your budget I would suggest at least a gtx 980, no-k CPU and a cheaper CPU cooler if you are not planning to overclock your CPU and a cheaper motherboard if you don't wish to add a 2nd gpu

I'll take some readings tonight of my set up with my decibel meter to give an idea of noise when browsing and when under load. I agree it is not completely silent when under load but for me I feel it does make a difference, plus the modular design for the hard drive caddies were an added benefit to improve air flow for me.

Using the Sound meter app which is reasonably accurate I got the following readings

Normal web browsing, general use, no major load
Fan/Pump profiles set to silent, Fan controller at position 1
35-40dB directly next to PC with CPU temps at 27-28C and GPU temps at 48/58C respectively
To be honest I could not really hear it at all until my head was almost against the case

Gaming for an hour (Battlefront at 1080p, max settings)
Fan/Pump profiles set to performance, controller at position 3
50-56dB directly next to PC with CPU temps at 32-35C and GPU temps at 63/68C respectively
Yes the fans are audible but I expect that when gaming.
At my sofa 3m away the meter read 45-50dB.

I then had my wife sitting at the sofa watching TV at normal volumes and she could just hear the fans at quiet lulls in her program whilst under load.

I have look at reviews for quiet cases ,not for your particular case ,but the difference in noise at full load is very close compare to other non silent cases. To have a good comparison you would need to look at a similar set up with a different case

Yes that is true. I do also like my case for its other features. Upon closer investigation, I managed to have a few more decibels off when not under load, getting it down to 25. The HDD was making most of the noise despite I have it in a cushioned mount to negate vibration transfer. I may look at a silencing box for the HDD or upgrade to a larger SSD for storage.

Okay, so ive swapped out the old SSD for an M.2 SSD for faster boots and game load times and downgraded the Quiet CPU cooler. Is the Noctua overkill or recommended to stay?

If you are overclocking, you will need the Noctua cooler. If not, you don't really need the 'k' processor. I wouldalso go for the CS series PSU, it is modular and create more space for better airflow in your case.
