I've requested an RMA. It's just a bit unfortunate, we got off to a good start as well!
Well matey, your laptop has two GPUs inside of it (as you are probably aware). The GPU on your Intel CPU (iGPU) and your NVIDIA GPU (dGPU). The default mode for them to run in is, "Hybrid" - Which is why you...
Hi all,
I just received a shiny-new Vortex IX. Unfortunately, there's one small problem: When switching from 'MSHybrid' to 'Discrete', the laptop monitor does not energise.
Here's a summary of what I sent to the PCS tech support:
As far as I can see there is no option in the BIOS to switch...
I meant - The in-game display setting was set to 1080 [w/ Nvidia set as my display adaptor] but the monitor/desktop [Intel] was set to 2160. I was confused as to why it was rendering at 2160 [40-60FPS]. As soon as I reduce the desktop [Intel] resolution down to 1080, everything is hunky-dory and...
Myself and darbyjack both have the same 4K monitor and experience a very odd "flickering" when the monitor changes resolutions when switching between full-screen applications.
In my personal experience (over the last few days of ownership), I've noticed that the monitor may sometimes fail to...
No overheating issues here - If you don't mind the fans running at 100% when in Auto. If you set the laptop to "Quiet" then you definitely notice a performance decrease. The performance has been solid.
The touchpad is great also, it has a matte feel and the buttons are very clicky.

Have you checked both sides of the motherboard? ;)
I'm assuming you've checked the bottom-side of the motherboard. Does the Vyper have a swappable keyboard? Look for two screws on the bottom of the chassis that allow you to remove it, and then you can access the top-side.
I'm no expert on the subject matter of SSDs, but those M.2 drives normally hit around 1500MB/s read / 750MB/s write. SSDs are normally around 500MB/s read/write.
The first time you copy a file from SSD to SSD you really have to listen to K-Log's Danger Zone and make jet engine noises.
Btw, in regards to your original review, did you leave your GPU with a 100MHz OC on the memory? I've heard some pretty outrageous overclocks can be had on that GDDR6.
Solid state drives are indeed a God send, especially for virtual machines. The speed difference is unbelievable. My current laptop has a 256GB (237GB) M.2 OS drive and a 1TB (893GB) data drive. I reckon I'll be using one, or both, in my new laptop to accompany the 512GB OS drive.

Considering you feel your Sony is still up to the task, have you ever cleaned out your machine with some compressed air? A tenner on a few tins of compressed air could save you £1500? Just a thought.
Conversely, the ultra-thin ("MaxQ" style chassis) laptops are the most power conservant. You'll...
Is there a keyboard shortcut that changes the fan profiles? For example: "Quiet", "Off,", "Max", "Auto". Most laptops will have Fn keys that allow you to change power/performance/fan profiles/
I'm new to Clevo laptops (assuming yours is Clevo), but I've been informed that Clevo do a management...
The RTX 2070 hardware is, more or less, identical on paper - Where the "Max-Q" version is just nerfed by heavy-duty power restrictions. The almost-fully fledged mobile-non-mobile 2070 chip is only around 10-15% slower than it's desktop counterpart [possibly more, if your experience is limited...
How old is your laptop?! Have you been using it on a bed, or such?
You'll be amazed at how much dust can get trapped betwixt those minuscule heat-dissipating fins. I'd blitz it with compressed air, undoubtedly something will be ejected. I had an old HP laptop that I used for work, and...
Thanks for your review, btw. Great detail and tone; especially great tones on that soundtrack you used to demonstrate the fan noise.
I’ve done gone bought the same model of laptop but with 2x16GB of RAM. And I also obviously plumped up a whole £9 for that thermal paste upgrade.
Hopefully my...
Isn't OLED burn in over a very long period of time I.E 5,000 hours? Or is it much less? It would be good to know who the panel manufacturer is [Most likely one of the usual suspects? LG? Samsung?] then we could give its resilience a Google. I know the Windows Start Menu, etc. are visible...
