This may be a somewhat dumb question, but with a monitor that only supports 10 bits on 120 hz (it's the AW3821DW), do I have to specify this refresh rate and colour setting via the Nvidia control setting for auto-HDR on Windows 11 to work to its full potential? Or does it handle this by itself?
I actually have a question if you don't mind - the 990 isn't an SSD I see come up much - is it because the smallest size offered is 1TB as opposed to 500GB? I saw some complaints about reliability issues but the same came up for the 980 (from what I read, firmware updates were released to...
Hi
I'm considering getting a new PC and would like some advice on the below build. Intended use is primarily gaming, and I tend to play a variety of games, including 4x, RPGs as well as some MMO gaming. Also intend to use it for WFH purposes but I don't do anything that requires a particularly...
Arrived today! Very pleased with it, I'll try put some pics up tomorrow. This is the final spec I went with.
Pairing it with this which is due to arrive soon: https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/alienware-38-curved-gaming-monitor-aw3821dw/apd/210-axqm/monitors-monitor-accessories
Ugh and of course now the 3080 has come down quite a bit when I try amend the build, as it goes into production. 🤣 I'd be tempted if not for the long wait.
Much like bonny Scotland. But I can't complain, I prefer the cooler temperatures most days. Several years in Cyprus and South Africa helped me appreciate it more. :p
Out of curiosity, is the monitor capable of running 3440x1440 @240hz? From what I read it can support a bunch of different resolutions but that one has to be input custom and therefore runs it at 120hz without HDR. But it's from threads from a while ago; has it changed?
I was looking at the Acer X34GS myself (itself apparently a very good monitor) but I get work discounts for Dell which put the AW381DW very very close to it for direct purchase from Dell and I'm tempted to go for it since reviews for it seem to be near unanimously good - I know this thread was...
I see. I might leave it for when cards in that bracket are more readily available then. I haven't looked much into its successor- has there been any word on what sort of spec it'll boast?
