The black foam things are stuck in pretty tight, and I don't want to go breaking anything. I tried loosening the screws around the fan but those foam things keep it pretty hard in place.

Okay, brilliant! Any recommendations for thermal paste? Also I've noticed today when looking at my fans they're sort of stuck in place with black foamy plastic. How would I go about removing them to give them a thorough clean?

So I went into regedit, home system, intelppm and changed the value from 3 to 4.

And a caveat I did change the processor to run at faster speeds idly because when it was on the default setting it would often drop to 0.18Ghz at random intervals for a few moments it was just painfully slow. Found it runs smoother with the higher idle speed. Though if this is not something you...

It looks like I didnt have my chip set drivers. Should I do a windows reinstall again and install all these properly? I think you're right I buggered up the driver installation when I reinstalled windows
