Ok I'm just letting the welcome screens and Windows do their things for now. I'll send over a photo for you tomorrow as it's getting late now. Thanks very much for all your help so far.
Hi thanks for this I will try this too if I have more problems
Actually, there was a little rubber thing that had come loose in the foam packaging and it looked like it should rest on top of a metal arm which extended underneath the GPU (the rubber thing had a narrow slit in it) for the GPU to...
Hi
I just tried a different HDMI cable and it is working via the TV now - I have a screen saying "Hi there" and so I will follow the onscreen instructions...
Thanks so much for your help. I used to be so technically minded but have no idea these days!
Here are the specs: NB: I didn't get the listed monitor in the end:
Case
COOLERMASTER SILENCIO S600 QUIET MID TOWER CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Eight Core CPU (3.8GHz-4.7GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4)
Motherboard
ASUS® STRIX B550-F GAMING (DDR4, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s) - ARGB Ready!
Memory (RAM)
16GB...
It does 1 short beep. Then a few seconds later does one long beep followed by 3 short beeps. Then after about 30 seconds it does it all again. I'll get you the specs now...
It definitely made a good few beeps - a bit like an alarm almost - wasn't sure if that was telling me something was wrong or it's supposed to do that every time it starts up?
As for lights on the MB - there's a little white light on near the RAM, a Cooler Master logo lit up in white and some...
Thanks. But SHOULD I turn it off? The booklet says not to turn it off using the power button...
It also said somewhere that Windows may take a while to install properly (up to 5 mins) - but I don't know if this has finished or not if I can't see the screen!
Ok so my new shiny PC arrived today and I have set it up but I can't seem to get a display on the monitor.
I tried connecting via HDMI from the GPU to a monitor on my work PC (ViewSonic 1080 Full HD) but I am just getting "no display" message. I also tried connecting to a Philips 4100 series...
Actually it seems the FI32U is 'currently awaiting an ETA' on Scan also:
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/315-aorus-fi32u-gaming-monitor-ss-ips-3840x2160-144hz-1ms-freesync-premium-hdr-10001-350cd-m-hdmi-21
They did have some in stock a few days ago - and when I ordered - I'm sure it came up and said "expected by 25th Oct" which confused me. I'd gone with Scan because Overclockers only had pre-order available. So I just assumed I had missed the last one. But then the eta disappeared off the Scan...
To use the much-alluded to Ferrari analogy, it will be like buying a brand new Ferrari SF90 Stradale, taking off the wheels and doors and parking it upside down on my drive whilst walking to the local shops instead?
Ok, so I've been told there is a supply issue with M32Us getting imported into the UK. There is currently no known date or eta. It did say on the site "expected 25th Oct" when I ordered but that has disappeared now. I know everyone is experiencing shipping delays, production and supply chain...
Thanks everyone for all your help and advice - I would have been totally lost without you guys!
I have now cancelled my IIYAMA G-MASTER GB2760QSU-B1 27" with PC Specialist and have ordered a Gigabyte M32U - 32" 4K UHD 144Hz IPS Gaming Monitor from Scan UK.
I think overall it was a better...
I am renowned for overthinking things! First I will procrastinate, then I'll contemplate for a while, then I'll consider my options and then I'll think about it a little bit more. And I will probably intersperse that entire process with numerous periods of doubt, stress, anxiety, backtracking...
Oh my god, I don't know.... arrgghhhh
Sorry, I'll compose myself.
Ok.
So I think I should probably forget 4K for now unless I want to spend a LOT of money and get a 4K 32".
I should plump for the Ultrawide because it will probably deliver a better gaming experience. As long as I don't play...
