Big update for everyone here
I got an email from PCS today saying that if I changed from the 3090 strix to 3090 x-brand that my order would go through because they have "plenty of stock".
So I got on the phone and managed to get through to a great customer service rep called Jeremy who said...
Thanks for linking this. That's usually the case with building things this complex, one bottleneck of a compound/substrate/build material just causes chaos
The ASUS Strix card is the "performance" option. It has a higher base and boost clock, higher power limit and better cooling. V. good for overclocking but if you're not to interested in that then go with the X-Brand option.
Gaming benchmarks tend to have them all the same anyway, as I said it's...
That's such an important point that so many people don't really pay attention to. Anything less than a 4k120hz monitor is a waste of a 3090. Completely.
I also received the same email for my 5950x but I've already had numerous conversations that mine has been assigned and that they are waiting on my 3090. So It's probably just an automated email. Always worth sending the customer service team an email.
EDIT: Having said this, it might be that...
Certain AIB cards for the 3090 seem to have more availabilty now, like the Zotac or the Palit cards. There are certain component sellers that has those in stock now. But I think most people are putting up the money for the 3090 (like myself) are wanting either FE or the Strix model
That's really interesting because I've asked several times if switching from my Strix 3090 to an X-Brand would move my order along in the queue and was told no. And my order was put in on the 8th of November! Ah well, I've resigned myself to until end of Jan/Feb for my Strix anyway.
Cheers for the link Ubuysa, I do appreciate this is tough on you guys and I do feel that every person I have spoken to over the phone is desperate to give us the information we want but simply can't sometimes.
I appreciate Ghost's suggestion of pinging over an email rather than a call since...
Just finished speaking to them this morning, the guy on the phone said that the delivery of the ZOTAC's didn't come through yesterday. He did also say that they hadn't had any 3090's delivered since the beginning of December though (which seems perhaps a bit contrary to what people have written...
Call them today before the weekend. Nothing wrong with calling and asking if there are any other issues that have cropped up other than the RAM. Every call I've had with PCS has been positive
Please do! I am waiting for the strix model and am thinking about switching to the X-Brand queue. There are certain brands of 3090's that I'm keen to avoid however
EDIT: In another thread, I mentioned that I had a phone conversation with PCS on Tuesday where they said they were unsure of the...
So I had a call today with a very helpful staff member called Gabriella. No word on the ASUS Strix cards but they are expecting a delivery of ZOTAC 3090's on Thursday. She told me to call back on Friday to see if that delivery arrives and if it does, I'll probably swap then
