I recently cancelled an order for a Recoil 15.6 inch after finding info about a design flaw with the mechanical keyboard that results in missed key-strokes (i.e. you have to press each key either directly in the middle, or at the bottom. Pressing a key near the top will make the "click" sound...
Hi, I'm considering purchasing the Recoil 15.6 with the AMD Ryzen 9 5900H and Nvidia RTX 3070.
Does anyone know if it's possible to completely power off the Nvidia GPU (so the unit runs off completely off the integrated GPU on the Ryzen 9 5900HX)?
I'm still running an ancient Intel i7 4790 in my desktop, and have decided it's time to take the plunge and buy something modern. I'm considering a desktop with an AMD 3800X, 5800X, 3900X or 5900X.
Is anyone running Linux on any of the above? If so, are there any compatibility issues?
I bought a Defiance II laptop from PCS many years ago, and have been extremely happy with it. I recall having the option to configure it with a 2K panel, but decided to go with FHD instead.
I'm now looking for a laptop with a 2K panel, but haven't seen any configuration options for PCS laptops...
The following are the steps I used to install Ubuntu 16.10 (and Kubuntu 16.10) on my Defiance II:
1. Make sure the GPU is set to DISCRETE in the BIOS.
2. Boot from the Ubuntu (or Kubuntu) installation media (press F7 repeatedly when you see the "PC Specialist" logo).
3. Press the 'e' key the...
The biggest problem I have found with Linux on my Defiance II (Skylake) laptop is the inability to reliably switch between the nVidia graphics and Intel HD graphics. With the latest nVidia drivers (364.12), while you can select the Intel HD graphics (by going in to the BIOS) and use the Intel...
I received my Defiance II laptop a couple of days ago, and I love it (a big "THANK YOU" to the team at PC Specialist). The screen, the keyboard, the performance - everything is exactly what I was looking for (and then some!). I'm primarily using it for a side-project that involves a lot of...
My Defiance II laptop has just been delivered - very nice machine!
I wanted an OS free laptop, but it has come with Windows 10 (not activated).
How do you get in to the BIOS? I've tried F10, F12, F2, and the Del key while booting, but nothing seems to work - it always boots in to Windows.
I'm thinking of purchasing the Defiance II (15.6") with 32GB of RAM and a 480GB SSD (standard SATA SSD, not the M2). Just wanted to know if anyone has been able to install Ubuntu (preferably 15.10) on this laptop, and if so, how they did it, what problems were encountered (if any) etc...
Thanks...
