Thanks again for the help. I'm trying to decide if the 2070 in this model is enough, or I should get the Octane with a 2080. This model seems better designed I think. But just a bit less capable. I don't know.

Thanks for the tips. You think the 17 inch version a better choice than the 15 inch? I guess the bigger body will help with cooling? Or would the Vortex be a better all round model? I'd have to drop down to a 2070 GPU, but if the machine is better at handling temps and has a more suitable CPU...

As I'm willing to get the 2080 card, I'd like the most suitable CPU to go with it, so budget not an issue. However it was suggested to me that the I9 CPU would be wasted in this machine? Thats why I'm here.. I don't want to spend on something that wont be used to it's full potential Thanks...

Hi I was very close to getting the vortex (and still may do), but I thought maybe a few extra FPS would be nice with the Octane running a RTX 2080 instead of a 2070. I was told the highest end CPU available here may not be a good combination in the Octane... So. which CPU is the best choice...

Thanks Thanks very much for the feedback and tips. I have a 7mm 1tb 2.5' SSD here.. I may get a Valve Index later. The Valve isn't able to plug in to USB though. It needs a 'DisplayPort 1.2'. Does this Jack of all trades Vortex supply one of those also?!

Hmm I watch racing vloggers on youtube and they mess around with the Anti aliasing settings on Project Cars etc while in VR. Yes, I wont get higher FPS, but may get FPS dips if I have the shadow/smaa etc. settings on too high while in VR though? I thought the extra power of the 2080 might give...

I'm not sure which VR headset yet. I think VR needs to create two images, and run them at at least 90fps. I think even a 2080ti might struggle with high settings and a good resolution in VR, I don't know. It depends on what quality you settle for I suppose. Ideally I'd like a capable VR headset...
