That is taking the mick a bit. And after we gave them so much praise.
I hope at the very least they will send you another, even if it wasn't their fault - probably without further correspondence with the way it's going :p
I've sent an email to PCS with the suggestion regarding the original topic, but I've also enquired about this issue - basically how much they know, if at all.
I'll post back here any info they share.
Good advice. I'll also contact PCS directly with the suggestion.
I think this is one of the topics right? Hard to deny that observation about Samsung. It would be nice to get some input/confirmation from more non Samsung dual M.2 users.
Edit: HAH sorry fevieira - didn't even see your link...
That's actually quite funny - I was looking into it for curiosity's sake mostly due to playing about with the configurator and selecting 1 250GB and 1 1TB Samsung 970 Plus drives. I then found a snippet of info that suggested the 2nd M.2 wouldn't operate at it's maximum speeds. I've since found...
Wondering if anyone can confirm this about the Nova or if i'd have to contact support directly.
Out of the two available M.2 ports, only one supports PCIe 3.0 and if i were to configure two, the second one would run via PCIe 2.0?
I think i get whats going on now - sorry for being a bit slow with this, I couldn't just throw away weeks of conclusions out without investigating my mistake first.
The benchmark results from notebookchecker (among others) are infect for the TDP 80w "older model" as fevieira suggests - this was...
There are several benchmarking sites I've found over the past several weeks (bascially every one google takes me to) that show the same mobile vs mobile(~5%) and desktop vs desktop(~15-20%) differences, funnily enough I even found a Tom's Hardware article on the notebookcheck.net findings (while...
This is true and i'm totaly prepared to go for the 2060's ~15% performance increase if it is infact that. I dont think i'd be prepared to pay the extra if the reality was more inline with the mobile vs mobile results below (this all considering that i'm perfectly happy with my 970's performance...
 Are you saying the cards in these laptops acctually desktop model cards? I was under the impression they would be the mobile variants (though i guess the term "desktop replacement" would suggest otherwise) and have been basing my research on the mobile variants.
Those results do indeed...
I'm going to take your advice but go for the 256Gb low end M.2 - I think it's a good compromise. Still faster than I’m used to and as a comparison, I still haven't used all my 850 Evo 250Gb boot drive in my desktop. Unfortunately none of my desktop's HDDs are fit for purpose...though my...
Is the 128Gb ADATA really that bad? Or do you just mean it doesn't have enough space? It comes as stock on some of the prebuilt laptops here, so I assumed at least it wasn't terrible.
Thanks for the feedback nursemorph, you've pointed out some really important things I've overlooked in my excitement, especially the warranty - I had forgotten about that completely.
The price is due to a -£15 promo code - I'm not sure of the rules regarding posting it, but if anyone is...
Hi guys.
I've not been around here much, but the community here is really friendly and informative so i thought I'd post my spec and get some final feedback before taking the plunge - a big thanks to some of the members and mods for their assistance with my queries.
The concept:
So this build...
Exact same experience here. Excelent service from Crucial from start to finish. Though personally I'm not the kind of consumer to "stick with" a specific brand - more the opposite, avoid the ones from bad experiences.
@fevieira Thanks for that clarification - and the PM link, I might just give it a go after all.
Funny coincidence, my Crucial Balistix (2x 8GB pack) for my desktop build some years back also had a faulty stick that needed to be RMA'd.
@demon28 - I would appriciate it, thank you.
So you're running single channel (temporarily) 3200 MHz memory? Out of curiosity did you flash the BIOS to get it to work at these speeds as mrlip suggests or were you saying you used Ryzen Master to achieve this? Interesting titbit on the overclocking.
Thanks for sharing this. I'll most...
OK thanks you for the clarification mrlip.
I probably wont bother as it doesn't really seem worth while.
I appreciate you stopping by to add to the discussion, and thank you both.
Cheers,
Steve.
Hi Spydertracks. Thanks for the info and super quick response. This is reassuring indeed.
One final and hopefully simple question, how limited (if at all) is the BIOS on the Nova? I'm purchasing without windows so I assume its going to have at least boot option capabilities, but if I need to...
