Well, I am an adventurer   , maybe ebay/aliExpress, I am still not sure! But they are costing $250-280 USD, it depends on the seller. However, since the rest of my system seems fine and works really well, I think it is the nicest thing to do.
Please correct me if I am wrong so I don't make a wrong purchase. As far as I researched, 980m is MXMb format, exactly the same from the GTX 880m, it fits perfectly (I measured it with a rule :D). I would not need any modifications on the Chassis. According to Eurocom, that mod that you are...
I flashed the lastest BIOS possible for our P170SM-A, From may 2015. The BIOS is 1.03.11 and the EC 1.03.09. There weren't any new updates to the BIOS ever since. And this model shipped with 900m series before it was discontinued. Therefore, I think that the most recent BIOS (the one that I...
Sorry for the late reply, I was trying to fix the issue. What I did so far:
Clean Install Windows 10
Used Ubuntu (It becomes a GTX 780m also on itself)
Flashed New BIOS
Reflashed the vBIOS
Nothing worked. I am going to replace the card. Will be upgrading to a gtx 980m that I now it is fully...
I repasted last friday, in order to try to fix the issue. The temps are fine for a GTX 880m (please see attached image, I am on Ubuntu and the preview image feature is not working, sorry)
And for the CPU, they are on 45-50 C on idle, going up to 70-80 on full (see attached image also)
Regarding...
I have found the most recent one from the forum that I mentioned before, if PCS does not respond I will try this one, it appears to be just a mirror from the CLEVO ones (when they were available). I just wanted to know if it is secure to flash this CLEVO ones on a PCS machine. I read a lot about...
As an update, I have been running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and I did not have any kernel panic and any problem of any sort... Opened CSGO, played some minutes, Closed it and nothing wrong happened. I am really confused. In addition, I would like to point that my BIOS version (early 2014 version after...
Thanks, just finished installed POP OS 20.04 and will be trying in on the next few days.
However, I would like to know if there is any BIOS update for this laptop MoBo or for the GPU (or even both), from a secure source of course (CLEVO/PCS/etc). Can you point me to a website or something? Just...
It only booted on GTX 880M after I removed the current NVIDIA driver. I am still not convinced that this is a hardware issue, it appears to be a driver one + Windows update (it started EXACTLY after the updates from july 14th, but I might be biased).
What I did now:
After the most recent BSOD...
Sadly, just had another BSOD :(:
On the last picutre above, "Adaptador de vídeo básico da Microsoft" = Microsoft basic graphics adapter, and that would be the GTX 880M.
I have no options right now left...
NURSEMORPH, thank you for your response!
I just removed the battery and I am using the system right now. Will update if anything comes up. Thanks for the suggestion!
Another thing that I thought on doing was to check the GPU voltages, or even try to undervolt it to see if the problem gets fixed...
I would like to say that I have NEVER done any overclock on this PC. Neither on the GPU nor on the CPU. Just used CLEVO Control center to change the presets...
