Its definitely an overkill if you are not going to be gaming on the rig to be honest :) if its mainly for productivity I'd keep the limit to around £1000 on the PC and then get another one in 3-4 years time.
My only other suggestion is to replace the HDD with an SSD or even better and M.2. NVME drive. You will get a massive amount of performance boost in terms of loading times, and many games really need SSD drives to run effectively, for example Star Citizen is unplayable on a HDD as its loading...
