Bios reported 'cpu fan error'. On opening the case found the cpu heat sink fan not running and also very dirty. Removed and cleaned the fan and the system came up OK, but still seems 'flaky' on startup. So I guess I need to replace the fan (not the heat sink as well). My PC is about 6 years old...
