Cheers. Weird that it didn't redirect me there even with Dutch turned on.
Another question I had - in terms of maintenance, would I have to ship it back to the UK for any issues? That's one of the biggest drawbacks to staying with PCS (even if I can be in the UK semi-regularly once things calm...
I am looking at replacing my trusted Clevo Vortex IV which I have had since it basically first came out in 2013.
I want a QHD screen (how are we still stuck with mostly 1080p screens 10 years later?!?), a 3070 and Ryzen processor, with decent portability and battery.
I have compiled the spec...
Just as an update in case anyone's ever in the same position. I paid €25 in the end (fan + €8 delivery from Germany) but it's made a huge difference in terms of cooling AND sound. I'd highly recommend it.
Thanks for the response. The laptop is a Clevo and I already found a fan which I've purchased. It's actually surprisingly easy to do so from Ebay (and Amazon).
My trusty Vortex IV (which I've had since 2013) has recently started to beep and shut down on restart/start-up. I've traced this to the CPU fan not starting which leads to the CPU heating up and reaching the 100C or so which then leads to an automatic shut down.
I've now opened the laptop and...
I know this thread is kind of old but I thought I'd report back.
I bought a new charger and now at least the laptop is reliably working on mains power. Still the battery is not working but this guy seems to be offering repairs.
I was also wondering if PCS can repair the motherboard for a price...
Yeah, it's a pain but I can return the battery, so that might be OK. Do you generally expect these things to die off after 6 years or am I just unlucky?
I was also looking at new PCS laptops. Are the new charging ports the same as the old ones? I was hoping they might be magnetic instead.
Thank you for the response.
I think the issue is the latter because my battery is now flashing green from time to time (shows up charged at 100%) and it seems to be charged, just not being used to power the motherboard.
I am not sure I'll actually bother with the repair because if the issue...
I bought the laptop from PCS in 2013 and have generally had no issues (HDDs failed twice but PCS were really helpful).
Over the past year (I've been lazy in sorting this out), my laptop has become a desktop (actually worse). If I unplug the laptop, it immediately shuts down and loses power. It...
I am getting this blue screen error when playing Lord of the Rings online. It seems to be the only game I am playing that causes this? Does someone have an idea how to fix.
Additionally, I was trying to find the place on Clevo's website where they publish BIOS updates to see if I have the...
So I purchased a new Vortex but because I have my own copy of Windows I decided it would be better to save money and create a bootable USB (which I've never done before but heard was easy to do).
I have tried creating a 64-bit W7 Pro bootable USB and it all seemed fine (after copying bootsec...
Clevo drivers for Windows 7
I was looking to buy a laptop (finally) and went on the Clevo website to check the driver support. It seems they have NO Windows 7 drivers.
Does this mean unless I buy Windows 8 I can't use the laptop?
I was just wondering if I can get this GPU with either of these systems.
My logic here is to either replace the 765m which is a bit underwhelming in the Optimus V. Alternatively, if I can get it with the Vortex IV, I'll have the possibility to upgrade later down the line, as the chassis...
Hi, I have managed to hold on until Haswell comes out and have configured the following laptop for my future gaming needs. I also watch quite a bit of online video and general browsing (which seems to be enough to kill my laptop recently).
Here's the spec. My budget ceiling is 1,300 (more like...
As I am sure most who post here are aware, the first batch of Haswell chips come with a USB bug where you might have issues with using programs from sleep.
Last I read there was no sure way to fix this issue and no guarantee a fix will be available if you buy that first batch of processors...
