I understand it isn't exactly intended to be portable, I just need to be able to take it to and fro between 2 places so that suits me fine. For long journeys/portability I have a lightweight, lower spec laptop for that. It's just being able to move it easily compared to a desktop.
I would have much preferred to get a desktop pc but that isn’t an option for various reasons, ideally I’d like this laptop to last for a reasonable time before I have to upgrade to a new one.
I am configuring a laptop to be used for Gaming, Video Editing and a bit of 3d modelling/coding etc.
The spec I have currently is as follows:
Chassis & Display
Nova Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD 144Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight Core CPU...
I’ve decided to go with the ryzen 7 3700x and the rtx 2070 as I would like a more future proofed laptop. I totally agree with your point and I’ve spoken with my parents and they are willing to meet the are over budget so 😃
Thanks everyone for your help, I truly appreciate it!
Ok, I'm going to get that other drive as recommended.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core CPU (3.6GHz-4.2GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4)
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 16GB)
Graphics Card...
I don't need too much storage as i already have a 1tb external ssd. I am also going to be using it for programming and video editing - i would like it to be as future proofed as possible.
I am building a laptop and my budget cannot exceed £1375.

I would get a desktop but I can’t because I need to be able to travel with this pc. I could maybe get a mini pc but that would probably be an inconvenience
