Hi All,

Recently got my PC and I’ve tried to play Cyberpunk and Ghostwire Tokyo. These games keep crashing back to desktop.

Things I’ve tried:
Updating Windows
Updating Nvidia Drivers
Verified Files in games
Looked at memory diagnostic tool.

Still The games crash though it takes longer for Cyberpunk to crash every so often.

My specs:
Intel® Core™ i5 14-Core Processor i5-13500 (Up to 4.8GHz) 24MB Cache
ASUS® ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI (Mini-ITX, LGA1700, USB 3.2, PCIe 5.0) - ARGB Ready
16GB PCS PRO DDR5 4800MHz (2 x 8GB)
12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 - HDMI, DP, LHR
256GB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (3200 MB/R, 2700 MB/W)
2TB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (3300 MB/R, 2900 MB/W)
CORSAIR 650W CV SERIES™ CV-650 POWER SUPPLY
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
PCS FrostFlow 80 V2 Series High Performance CPU Cooler

Hiya, could you post your full specs as below please?

Could you also include a screenshot of your optional updates page?

Can you also take a photo of the rear of the PC and upload it?

It may be worth you exporting and uploading the System and Application logs....
  1. Enter the command eventvwr into the Run command box. The Event Viewer will open.
  2. Locate the Windows Logs folder in the left hand pane and expand it by clicking on the arrow (>) to the left of it.
  3. Right-click on the Application entry and select 'Save all events as...'. Choose a folder anywhere that suits you and a filename of 'Application' (an .evtx suffix will be added automatically).
  4. Right-click on the System entry and select 'Save all events as...'. Choose a folder anywhere that suits you and a filename of 'System' (an .evtx suffix will be added automatically).
  5. Zip the Application.evtx and System.evtx files together and upload the zip file here.

I think you're most likely looking at a RAM problem here. The Application log contains numerous application error messages for differing processes, most of them are 0xC0000005 exception codes - which is a memory access violation.

I would first suggest removing and then re-seating the RAM cards, sometimes things do move in transit.

If that doesn't help, download Memtest86 (free), use the imageUSB.exe tool extracted from the download to make a bootable USB drive (1GB is plenty big enough) containing Memtest86. Then boot that USB drive. Memtest86 will start running as soon as it boots, if no errors have been found after the four iterations of the 13 different tests that the free version does, then restart Memtest86 and do another four iterations.

Lets see how that goes before we look any further.

Thanks so much! I'll do this and get back to you!

Very hard to get at the switches to take out and reseat the RAM

This RAM layout seems wrong to me. There should be a space between them to use the full channel.

Just realised you're on a nano build, ignore above.

Ok, but bear in mind that this doesn't prove that you RAM is good, no memory tester can do that. It does however strongly suggest that it's not the problem.

Have you checked your temperatures at all? Download HWMonitor (free) and monitor your CPU temperatures. We'd like to see what they look like at idle (with no apps running) and at the maximum load you can create. Take a look at other temps in your system too.

Has this been happening with your PC out of the box? Or did it start happening after performing updates (either Windows or drivers)?

It may be worth running CHKDSK or SFCScannow just in case there's a corrupted Windows file/update.
